General Nash Home and School Meeting Minutes
August 22, 2013

June minutes were approved.
Coordinator Round-Up, 10-10:30am in Nash Cafeteria. This event provides coordinators the opportunity to learn information on logistics for planning events

Principal's Report - Mr. Martiello
New Staff Members - Miss Jessica Bogwist in 1st grade, Mrs. Jennie Hannig as a reading specialist, Mrs. Kristin Lomas in 3rd grade, Mrs. Stevenson in reading support, Mrs. Piazza in reading special education and learning support.
New Arrival time is 9am - 9:10 in the morning.
Feedback on Principal Notes - home and school members at the meeting approve the new Principal Notes
Feedback on Website - icon size increased to improve access and navigation with a variety of devices including tablets and smart phones.

Treasurer's Report - Sue Zima
Budget was unanimously approved

Business

Tab fundraiser - The goal is a million tabs to be donated to Shriners and Ronald McDonald House. Plan to collect in a bin next to the box tops. It is intended to have the children involved in the counting. There is a need for donation of large water jugs to collect the tabs. Home and school members will look into academic activities to facilitate counting of the tabs.

Nash Sign restoration - association approves use of money market funds for purchase of a new sign.

Monthly Envelopes - envelopes will be sent home monthly. It was suggested that only sending on home papers that need to be returned. Concerns were voiced: concern over duplicate copied being sent home to a single family with children of multiple last names and duplicate information in paper and e-communication forms.

Open coordinator positions - a few coordinators positions are still open.

Activities night coordinator is needed to coordinate community food.
Envelope coordinator
Halloween parade - the parade will occur before school, alternate parade ideas were suggested

Indoor recess games - Wendy Fillgrove volunteered

Campbell labels are going to be redeemed for school supplies, library, electronic games
Bookfair - This year we will be using Harleysville books. There will be a mini-book fair in the fall - any book that Harleysville can order is available for purchase through the fair. The partnership also provides authors to the school for activities.
Boxtops and labels will be run along the same deadline and with the same rewards

Open Forum Q & A
Band and orchestra are held at the school with the earlier start time.
Directory will go digital and family gets id and password to access, parts can be printed, family can opt out of providing information or inclusion of family within the directory.
Holiday shop will be held on Saturday during breakfast with Frosty
Safeties will be organized within in the beginning of the school year.
Request that students be able to choose their seats during lunch and be able to sit with other members of the same grade.
ESC keeps a menu with detailed food ingredients and allergens.
