Promoted American University of Women - upcoming seminar for 7th and 8th grade girls

Ms. Charnock stated that she attempting to visit a home and school meeting at each school by the end of the current school year. She reported that she seen attendance at the meetings as an opportunity for the meeting participants to voice concerns, pose questions and make comments. Ms. Charnock asked from opinions on advertising on school ground and within the school building. Currently advertisements are generally placed in athletic fields, potential locations include cafeteria and hallways whereas other areas are prohibited such as library and classrooms. Revenue received from advertising would be part of general fund. Most comments supported advertisements which promote healthy idea, one commenter dissented.

Parent raised concerns about communication between school board and individual school. There are feelings that school board discusses and decides on specific topics on their own prior to openly discussing topics with other interested groups. Suggestions included that agenda and meeting minutes should be posted accessibly in a timely fashion, possibly using twitter feed and/facebook. Ms. Charnock reported that she believes agendas for school board meetings are posted a few days prior to meeting.
