Review of "Summer slide"- The result of non reading in the summer is a loss of reading skills and comprehension skills which were achieved during the school year.

This can be prevented by providing quick reading tasks that easily integrate into the day

Various summer reading plans were discussed including:

Six books over the course of the summer

20 minutes a day, the more minutes the better a child's success

Use of techonology with reading - Ex. "Play away" get the book as well as the book being read aloud and Audible.com

Parents to model reading, read to the child, use a vocab calendar, read recipes

Independent reading levels can help ensure the child is on their reading level, read aloud book can be used on a higher level
