Principal's Report - Mr. Martiello

Thank you for a great opening
transportation update - children are arriving and departing is an efficient manner, no concerns were voiced
assessment schedule - children participate in multiple assessments that guide instruction, assessment schedule will slow down shortly


Business

Monthly envelope feedback - positive feedback, coordinator is still needed

website updates - multiple calendars are available on the website, including: number day calendar, lunch menu etc.
Mr. Martiello's page has a new look with added functions such as buttons to navigate to important and commonly used information.
Coordinator Reports
Welcome picnic and activity fair -
The food is a bring your own picnic
It is an opportunity for school families to learn about potential local activities for students
Tables will be set up in the cafeteria, various community groups as well as groups within the school will have tables as well activities at the tables
Walk-a-Thon -
Primary fundraiser for Home and School Association, payments can be made both in paper (check/cash) as well as electronic.
Families can choose to have donation of single family to be split between classes when there are multiple children or family can choose to have each child fundraise separately.
each grade will participate in a course around the school during the class's special period. The course will include activity stations at a few points during the course. Children will receive "feet" to acknowledge laps
Open Coordinator Position - Monthly envelops continues to need a coordinator
Million Tabs Project - will benefit Shriners and Ronald McDonald hospital
Npage - North Penn's gifted program, meeting it to be held Oct 10th at Educational Services Center
Any Time fundraiser reminder
There are receptacles to collect boxtops and Campbell soup labels located in the school lobby, final day for fall collection is October 17.
Donations can be made via Giant and Target shopping rewards cards
Parent Camp
Kulp will again host Parents Camp, a day- long conference where parents are able to attend small group workshops which address a variety of topic pertinent to parents of school age child as well as keynote speaker.
This year childcare is available on site.
Spanish club
student have an opportunity to participate in Spanish language instruction at an early age. Instruction is divided between elementary and intermediate learners
Halloween parade
The school students will have an opportunity to participate in a Halloween parade before school, details are still being worked out - it is an optional activity
The tentative plan is for parent volunteers to help facilitate students gathering by class.
Students attending before school care will be included in the activity.
Odyssey of the Mind
Activity where student work is small teams weekly from Oct to March. Allows children to "think outside of the box" to solve problems and create a performance
Informational meeting to be held Oct 9th, 2013
Playground painting
The school possess the stencil and is looking into having it painted on the playground. Funds could either be donation from Travelers or Sixth grade (2012) class.


Open Forum Q & A
Orchestra/band at Walton Farms due to school start times in order to minimize the amount of class time that student will miss.
