Principal's Report - Mr. Winkle

Mr. Winkle gave a presentation on the recent PSSA results. He explained that the purpose of administering these assessments was to show if the PA Core Standards were being met. This past year's test was more difficult and challenging and we saw dramatically lower scores. Nash students scored fourth highest in the district in both areas.

Teacher Representative - Ms. Catto

Ms. Catto shared that Mrs. Hannig reported that the Summer Reading Incentive was a success. She also told us that Mrs. Pronczak wanted to remind everyone about the "Show Your Colors" assembly on October 13 which will celebrate the importance of others' cultural backgrounds.

New Business
-Directory ads: We were able to raise $600 through the directory advertising program.
-March-a-thon: This is our largest fundraiser and the programs that it supports make up 1/2 of our budget. Our goal is to raise $11,000. Each class has a goal that they are hoping to reach and while the individual classes will decide their own incentives, the class that meets its goal will be getting Freeze-pops from the Home and School. We are still looking for volunteers to help that day.
-K-Nex Donation: Mr. J.J. Reymond, a professor at Montgomery County Community College has graciously donated several K-Nex building sets to Nash (1 roller coaster kit, 1 large building kit and 12 small/medium building kits.) Once the school board has approved the gift, we will be able to distribute them to the Nash students.
-Winter Basketball Tournament Fundraiser: Mr. Yeum approached the Home and School about hosting a basketball tournament fundraiser. Details are still being worked out, but the initial plan is for the tournament to take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. (with a snowdate of Thursday, February 25, 2016). It will be a 3 on 3 tournament for teams made up of 4th, 5th and 6th graders. There will be snacks for sale and a flyer will be coming home in January.
-How to Get Involved at Nash: The school events are always listed on the Nash website and parents are encouraged to check the website often to see all of the exciting things going on at our school.
